My favorite dolls are Molly and Kailey! I just went to AG Place in NYC and "adopted" Kailey to be Molly's new sister. So far, they are getting along very well. They share a bunk bed, and Molly sleeps on top. I got EVERYTHING that Kailey comes with, including the new towel. All 3 of us went to the "beach" yesterday (the floor in my room). It was fun.

What a wonderful site! My daughter, Sara, who is now a senior in college, has been collecting American Girl items since 1988. Recently I have undertaken the task of acquiring the few missing items in her Kirsten collection. Your web site, which is organized so well, is certainly the best tool I have found to assist me in doing this. American Girl dolls have played an amazing role in my daughter's growing-up years. I have often told the story of how these dolls gave her a touchstone to both American history and current events. During the summer of 1991, we took a family vacation to Williamsburg, VA, and arrived just as Felicity was being introduced to the world. Although we were unable to obtain tickets to the fashion show and tea party that were being held in her honor, we did purchase her first book and a nightcap that Sara's Kirsten doll was also able to wear to bed. Felicity's story was the image of what we were seeing in Williamsburg and certainly made that long-ago world come alive for my daughter. As we continued our historical tour, we stopped in Philadelpha, but alas Addy hadn't yet been introduced to the American Girl family. On our way home we stopped at the newly opened refurbished Ellis Island immigration processing museum. My young daughter stood in the middle of the great hall viewing the exhibit of luggage from those who had braved the journey to this new country, and ask if this was the spot where Kirsten had first put her trunk on American soil. Several days later we visited Edison's workshop in Orange, NJ, and she immediately was taken with the talking doll he had invented--the one that appeared to her to be just like the doll that Samantha had owned. Each of these stories, as told through the eyes of Felicity, Kirsten and Samantha, was an aformation of the reinacted history she was experiencing at each destination. I was so pleased that she had been able to relate her favorite dolls to such an important learning experience, but the best was yet to come. When Desert Storm began, Molly's story became larger than life! The concept and fears of war were very real and just knowing that Molly's father had gone away to fight for America and came home again, helped my daughter to both understand and accept what was happening at that time in our country. I enjoyed playing with my own dolls as a child, but the American Girl series is a very special kind of doll--both a vehicle for imaginative play and creative learning! These dolls and books are a gift that has helped an entire generation of girls to better understand the world in which they live. Next week my daughter will begin her practice teaching and she hopes to be in her own elementry classroom by next fall. In addition to the American Girl Teacher's Guide books that she has added to her collection, she will also take each individual American Girl--their time period, experiences, lifestyles, hopes and fears into that classroom. I can't help but think that her students won't be enriched be those same experiences--and many of them may already had heard the stories and made friends with those young girls from long ago. Thank you for organizing this rich web site that will now be one of my favorite stops on the internet highway.

Hi! It's me again. On your homepage, I just read the Good News about Felicity Merriman, the character who was introduced to Pleasant Co. thirteen years ago. I'd have to say Thanks so much for having the company change their mind about discontinuing Felicity because she's too good of a historical girl to become no longer available. I'm sure this made a lot of AG fans happy to hear that Felicity stays and not to worry about her vanishing from the company forever because of the e-mails and letters saying "Please Don't Discontinue the doll".   I also said to Myself in a whisper with my fingers crossed when I read the news on Felicity, Thank You! Thank You!!

You know why I love the Kit doll so much? Because we are alike! I love writing, I like history, we have almost the same features! Well, even though we have differences, I usually refer to her as "ME" because I really love it! I like the stories. I once read the 'Meet Kit' story and "GOSH, was it ME?" I even remembered such a fact that I was once told to understand the "Want not, waste not" quote! If you want to look for me me, PLEEEASE don't because there's a book anyway. My daughter's favorite doll is Kirsten, but she also has Kaya, Kailey and Logan (hopscotch hill). She bought Kirsten off ebay with money she got for Christmas. She came with 2 retired outfits and some other items. One I can not find and don't know which doll it belongs to. It is an original Pleasant Co. with inside tag, it is an under garment that is like a camisole and pantaloons that is all one piece. It is white with thin white straps at the top, little white buttons down the front and ruffles with white ribbon on the legs. If anyone knows anything about this garment please let me know. Thanks!! This site is great and has a wealth of info!!

Thank you for creating this excellent, well designed page. I was given 'Molly's Surprise' for Christmas when I was three or four, and am still collecting 17 years later. I bought Samantha when I was six or seven, and my mother bought Felicity several years ago, to use in the classroom when teaching Virginia History (though she lives at home with Samantha most of the year). The information on Felicity's retirement (and revival?) is appreciated. I was very disappointed when they began to phase her out, and was wondering if it had anything to do with the Mattel connection. The quality and focus on history seem to have gone down these past few years, but I'm delighted to see beautiful new outfits for Samantha are still being produced. I also love the wish list feature! Thanks again. :)

I'm so pleased to find this site. What a great idea! The design is easy to use and the content is terrific. I'm another of those hoping Felicity really will be "relaunched". I can't imagine why Mattel sidelined her and have to hope they'll correct that soon. I also hope there will be a new historical doll this year. Nellie sounds like a good bet since she would require much less development than a doll from an entirely new period. I really would rather see a doll from a different time, say the 1950s, but if it is Nellie, she'll be very welcome all the same.

I have written 2 times already but this all new- I am 9 same age as samantha+nellie. I started collecting Sam when I was 8. I got Sam on July 2003. This is a wonderful sight. I am impressed about how current it stays. I have an update - I talked to a woman on the phone when placing an order. She told me that they would never completely discontinue a doll (in other words stop selling the actual doll) however, if a doll is not popular they will discontinue her accessories, clothing, and other items as with Felicity. She told me that Addy would be the next to go to internet sales.

We found your site through a search engine about a month ago and being recent American Girl admirers we are so thankful for it. My daughter read her first Felicity book in October and since then she has wanted everything for Felicity. I love the dress page! I think you shoud put A.G.O.T. on the wish list. Also, was A.G.O.T. once called Our Genaration? I have a friend who has one Today but she says it was called an "Our Generation" doll. I want Kailey. My gran is wondering about it and I am wondering why A.G. made Sandy? Because she was another family's dog. And she only appeared in 2 sentences out of a 148 page book! Also, what is Kailey's last name? I also want Nellie, and don't like Kaya. Love your site -- I bought Samantha in 1986 as a decoration for our fireplace. My daughter was born in 1987, shortly thereafter I bought Kirsten to help her eventually learn about her Swedish heritage. Next came Felicity, then Josefina, then Kit, along with many of their items. AG became our favorite pasttime -- we were always on the hunt for doll-sized items to add to their rooms. Just wanted to say what a great site this is! I fell in love with the company when I was given my Samantha doll for my first communion 13 odd years ago, and have been collecting since! I, too, was in Williamsburg, VA when Felicity was being introduced and jealously watched all the girls and their mothers dressed in costume as they headed towards the tea party, if only we had been able to get tickets! Although I am disappointed in the Mattel takeover and the lack of quality in the newer items, I am doomed to keep collecting. Happy Trails!

Katie and I like Samantha the best. We are currently collecting her things in a systematic manner. We like Kaya, who represents our Native American roots. We also like Felicity because of her love for horses. Kirsten shows us how our pioneer ancestors had to adapt after immigration to this country. We still have relatives in the midwest. Say, Curt, thought that you might like to know that Pleasant Rowland is no longer affiliated with American Girlï¿* or Mattelï¿*; not even in name due to the 2004 change of the company name from Pleasant Company to American Girlï¿*. At the time that Mattelï¿* took possesion of the company Pleasant did not remain on as the President, however, as you stated, she did take a seat on the Mattelï¿* Board as an acting VP for two years. She then left in the year 2000. I have been with the company since 1997 and I just happened upon your site. Hope you find this information useful.

This is an amazing site! I have been collecting these dolls since 1995, when I saved up my own money (at seven years old!) to buy Felicity. No wonder I was so happy to hear that she is being reintroduced! I also have Josefina and Lindsey. My sister owns Molly, and a Girl of Today we won in a raffle. We have been receiving American Girl catalogues faithfully for nine years now. My favorite section of the site is the retired outfits, since I recognize so many outfits that I had been wondering about. Keep up the good work!

Hi, I have been a huge fan of the American Girl Dolls ever since I got my Felicity for Christmas when I was nine years old (I am now 18). I began searching for news about American Girl Dolls about a year ago on the internet when I started to see the company slowly phasing out Felicity's items. I was very concerned about this phasing out because she is my absolute favorite doll with the best clothing, and backstory (in my opinion). I am very happy to know that they will not be retiring her, because that would have been a terrible thing. This is a Wonderfully designed and easy to navigate website. I only wish there were more sites like this out there. :)

Samantha is SO excited to have tea parties with Nellie! Her and I just reread "Meet Samantha" for the 2358754823th time, and we remembered how here and Nellie met! Jimini! I just got Sam's retired outfit from eBay! it will be here soon! I can't wait to take her down to Piney Point (our closet) for a swim! Today I gave Samantha a good manners lesson, and taught her some new lessons out of her Baldwin Primer. Yesterday we climbed aboard the S.S. Londonia and had a blast! Dear Curt: First, I want to thank you for such a well organised and informative web site about the American Girls. It greatly eased my burgeoning collection of AG catalogs of some ten years. Your website was first recommended to me when I too went on e-bay to look for missing/retired Felicity items and found one item listed that I had not noticed before and asked the seller about it. She sent me to your excellent website. Although Felicity is not the only AG in our household, I too have collected for various girls in the family, Felicity is really my personal favorite and I am sorry that Mattel deemed her not so lucrative as to keep her up. Is there anything I can do besides write to Mattel (which I have already done) expressing my dismay and concerns? Thank you again for designing such a wonderful reference tool for us AG lovers.

I really love American Girl, and I love this site! Of all my American Girl dolls (I have Kaya, Josefina, Samantha, and a Girl of Today doll), I like Kaya and Josefina best. Hello Just a quick thanks for a very informative website. I started collecting the American Girl dolls in the late eighties, starting with Samantha and then Felicity. I'm now older and married and my mother has asked me to "clean out" my stuff from her home, included are my dolls and accessories, I have yet to decide what I want to do with them. I absolutely love this web site. I know you have put so much time and work into this for others to enjoy. I love seeing the pictures of all the retired items. I have been looking for a site like this on Bitty Baby to see the pictures and get a little history. If you know of one I would really like to know. I don't think it's fair that only Samantha gets a friend. Samanha is spoilt as it is - she's getting her own movie for peets sake! As beautiful as Nellie is, I don't understand why Samantha gets a friend first. Sure shes popular, but what does that mean? I noticed I'm the only one who put Addy as their favorite doll! Wow, I thought she was alot more popular. My mom first got me Addy when I was 7 because Addy looks just like me! Then I got Molly. I cant believe that Nellie's online! She started out, a far fetched AGP rumor...then spread to others by this site and the SOAGC... A trademark was found...The Pleasant Company Publications showed the first real evidence... Photo's from 6/18 were put in image station albums, and now she's ONLINE! Ag's original Nellie promotion : 1. June 18th was the preview. 2.Online 7/6 3. July 24th is the official introduction party at AGP. Along w/ new outfits. 4. She will have her official release in the Fall catalog along w/ new outfits. 5. The Movie in November. 6. Holiday/Valentine Outfits & acessories in December. This plus the other stuff I mentioned made it a much longer Promotion then ever AG-intended.

Wow, Nellie FINALLY arrived! Just a shoutout to everyone: Nellie is so beautiful. Her hair is so soft and I have been playing with her non-stop ever since she came. My dad got fast 2-day shipping so she would come ASAP! This is so great! I am absolutely thrilled that Felicity is being re-introduced... even though I don't have her, I think she lived in one of the top most important times in American History! I've only got 3 dolls - Samantha, Nellie, and AGT, and I'm proud of it. I don't believe you have to have 6 or 10 dolls to be a real collector, I believe it's all the outfits and accessories you collect for 1 or 2 dolls that counts. Hi, I love your American Girl site - I can't tell you how helpful it is! Living near the company headquarters, I find lots of retired American Girl doll items at garage sales around the city. The site helps me a lot in identifying everything. Something to note for collectors is the big American Girl sale that the Madison Children's Museum puts on each year (it's actually this weekend - people fly in from around the country for it). American Girl is great and donates all of their returned or defective merchandise to the museum, which fixes the things that might have a problem, and then sells it all for about half the normal price. All of the money goes towards a good cause such as charities that enhance children's education through the arts, culture, and the environment. This year, I was surprised to see the amount of retired items for sale such as Kirsten's skating outfit, Samantha's bathing suit, Felicity's scenes and settings, and lots more (not to mention all of the Bitty Baby, Girls of Many Lands, American Girl clothes, AGOT items). I know that the older tags say, "Pleasant Company" with the year that they were made and the new Mattel ones say, "American Girl". The ones that puzzle me are the tags that read, "Pleasant Company" without a year on it. Do you know what years those tags/outfits were produced? Are they still pre-Mattel? Is it true that some of Felicity's items are coming back? That would be great--I was so disappointed when they started retiring her collection!! I am so pleased that I have found this website. It has taught me new things about Nellie, and it's a place to share my exciting news. The news is: It's official!! Nellie's here to stay! Dear Elle, When I got Nellie, I noticed the same thing. I didn't tell my parents because American Girls cost alot and I have too many of them. What I do is pretend Nellie is a little bit older than Samantha and that Nellie is just a tall girl, she can't help it she is just tall. I'm taller than some of my friends because my dad is tall. Anyway you have had that Samantha doll for 7 years, I wouldn't part with it now.

Wow everyone's so enthused about Nellie! Which is great...anyone heard more news on the Samantha movie? (When it is, who's in it, etc.) I can't wait to go to AG Place again, I have reservations for dinner on Dec. 23... it'll be a madhouse but it'll be great!! I hope they bring some old Felicity items back, I really want to add to my collection but it's hard because so many of her items are sold out (but thanks Curt for the retired items list because at least I know what I'm missing!) I've had Felicity since I was 7 and now that I'm 16, I've switched from playing to collecting... but I'll always love AG! It's great to know older people still play with and love their dolls!

I will be collecting these dolls for my granddaughters, but I must confess that I enjoy collecting them. Addy is so beautiful and Kirsten is just so cute. My next addition will be Josephina and then Kaya. I am happy to see that older girls like these dolls also. This is a great site and I thank and congratulate you for putting it together. I'm an adult collector (but hopefully will never quite grow up) and have done several different storylines with my AG dolls representing different characters. I enjoy making clothes, accessories and settings for them, then photographing the results. Currently there are 34 AGs sharing my house. Their adventures include visiting the Cat Planet via a space shuttle (made from scrapped styrofoam packing)and attending a school on a mystical island to learn how to shapeshift (into mermaids or selkies) and to time travel. Gina, my Girl of Today alterego, successfully completed the American Girl Historical Society program in 1996, with my help as her mentor. All her project materials had to be scaled down to her size, of course. I bought Kirsten and Sam in 1987, then didn't get involved again until 1991. Can anyone tell me when the original white-muslin bodied dolls stopped being sold? Were those the ones made by Goetz? My wish would be to have another Historical Society and AG Club with projects for the last 4 AG characters, especially for Kaya! I got Samantha in the Summer of 1993when I was 15. I am now 26 and am VERY excited with the progress that AG has made. I still keep up with all the Samantha outfits etc, have all of her retired things with the exception of one, and thanks to the web page creator for making the retired list so that I can keep up my collection! I am also excited about Nellie... which I have to get. See? Older girls can play with dolls too *grin*.

Hey everybody! I went to the American Girl Yankees Game today where they gave out the Yankees uniform for dolls, and wanted to report back on it. It was fun to get, but I was actually a little disappointed. The pants don't fit my Felicity doll perfectly (they're a little tight) and the shirt's really long. I got the doll-sized Yankees jacket and hat last year, and this year's hat was darker, almost black. (The jacket last year was really nice too.) Anyone else go to the game and get the promo? I was wondering, Curt: on the AG Today page you mention historic dolls that have the same faces as Today dolls, but you don't mention Felicity...who does she have the same face as? I'm so happy some of Felicity's items are back! Finally now AG is realizing that many people love Felicity and they can't retire her.

I called American Girl today regarding my daughter's Nellie doll being 3/4" taller and much more "rosey" colored than Samantha; the customer service woman said this was the first she'd heard of it and only offered to replace the Nellie doll with another, which she said would still be the same! She said the nellie was from a different mould and that was that. Interesting that she acted like this was a new problem. The other dolls look "dead" to use my daughter's phrasing compared to Nellie, and Nellie is supposed to have grown up not as well nourished as Samantha et al.

thanks for adding the dress like your doll section,could you maybe add pictures from the old catalogs. I've been collecting AG since I was 16 and my collection has grown to include Kaya and Addy(my fav). Seeing Nellie gives me hope that AG will continue and make friend dolls for each of the girls; a great way to expand their core 6 books. Anyone know if they'll make Sarah Moore(Addy's best friend) into a doll??? That's who I'm holding out for. Keep up the great work

I love this web site. I collect American Girl dolls. I have Sam, Felicity, Addy, Kirsten, and Kaily. I plan to add Nellie, Josefina, Kit and Kaya, as well. (My best friend has Molly, Addy and Felicity.) I am an adult now but I was 8 years old when I first met found American Girls. I saved my own money from odd jobs until I could buy Samantha in 1988. After that it has been a slow process of adding dolls and their items to my collection. I still find such joy in them even if I don't play with them the way I used to. I love AG I received the first 3 Josefina books when they were new in 1997 when I was about 6. My dad read them to me. I saw the card in the back of the book and fell in love with the dolls immediately. One of my friends in third grade had the AG doll Kirsten, and we always used to play with her when I went to her house. I got my dad to go on the Internet to look up these dolls to see if I could get one. They were too expensive, so my dad said no. When I was in fourth grade one of my friends had a Today doll, light brown hair and brown eyes. I really wanted to get a doll then, but I knew I would have to pay for it, and my allowance was seriously about one dollar or two dollars then. Then on my tenth birthday my parents raised my allowance to four dollars, and I decided to save. I rarely talked about anything else besides dolls when I was in fifth grade and I got sick of it and decided to put all the money that I had saved in the bank. About a year later, my parents raised my allowance to five dollars, and I took an interest in AG dolls once more, but this time I ignored AG for the time I was saving, except to convince my parents to raise my allowance to six dollars. My mum ordered my doll, Kirsten, before I went to England to visit some family, and so it would be here by the time I returned. So after about six years since I first discovered the dolls, I finally had one. I only have one other AG outfit besides her meet one, which I got for Christmas. I have recently discovered Nellie, who I believe is AG's second cutest doll (after Kirsten, of course!), and I have been saving for her from the moment I laid eyes on her, my parents even gave me an huge allowance raise when I offered to do loads more chores around the house. This site has really helped me pass time while saving for Nellie. I should have enough for her in the next week of two. AG dolls rule! - Mistee, 13

First of all, I just got my Lindsey via eBay! Yay for me! (20 years old, and I'm still collecting, lol) Secondly, for all of you who have noticed a difference between your Nellie and Samantha, my 1992 Samantha is the same size as Nellie, but I have variations in the heights of my other dolls, this is unavoidable with anything that is mass produced, also, Nellie would likely have been darker complected than Samantha, as Samantha (in 1904) would have been raised to protect her skin from the sun, while Nellie would have often worked outside, thereby darkening her skin. (In that time period, paleness was a sign of wealth). Anyway, I love this site, and I just wanted to address the stuff I was reading in the guest book!

To Jane (Who wrote on the 9th) I think u should just buy the skin/hair care kit instead of buying a new doll. You'll save money and have the same doll that you love. My twin and I share our dolls and Kaya's hair got all tangled so we took a comb to it and combed it really hard. It took an hour and a half, but it was finally nice and straight and back to normal. We did the same thing to our lil cousins doll(girl on the go doll) who also had a head full of rats. Now they both are great! The first dolls we got were Magic attic club in 1996. We were 8. Then a year later they came out with Rose...Another MAC doll. Since there were two of us and an odd number of dolls we decided to get another doll. We were gunna get a My Twin doll but they are 21 inches, so we decided on Kirsten. After that we got Josephina, Molly, Addy, Sam, Felicity, Lee (the chinese AG Today), Kit, Karen (another AG Today), Lindsey, Kaya, and Kaya. We cant wait to get Nellie bcuz she is cute like all of our other dolls!

Dear Enelya, Check out my comments on the big American Girl sale that I posted on July 15th. There's all of the info there along with the website for the sale. Like I posted then, American Girl is great and donates all of their returned or defective merchandise to the Madison Children's Museum which holds the sale. They fix the things that were returned and might have a problem, otherwise other stuff might be discontinued, returned without a problem, etc. and then sells it all for about half the normal price. I got tons of stuff, and nothing had a problem. You can save so much money by going to the sale and stocking up your collection that way. Where else can you get a historical doll for $50, the Josephina chest for $80, a bunch of hangers for $1, books for $1 each, Felicity's retired bird bottle for $1, the Kirsten retired skating outfit for $20, and Sam's retired swim outfit for $10 or so? Unreal! It's a great deal and a great treasure for American Girl fans. Like I wrote back on the 15th, people fly in for this sale from around the country. The museum raised over $1 million this year just from the sale - plus, it's going to a great cause! Check it out :)

I was reading another American Girl fan site and saw pictures of the new AGOT dolls, and noticed that one of them (#23?) has RED hair and blue eyes, not brown hair! (I was considering getting this doll, but not since I found out it has red hair--I already have my redhead doll!) Also, in regard to all the "best friend doll" questions, I wanted to share an idea I had: I'm thinking of buying an AGOT doll and making her a colonial doll, to be friends with my Felicity doll. I'd give her a new name (i.e. not Elizabeth, Felicity's best friend) and give her her own personality. She would also share Felicity's clothes, so they could both be colonial...they'd be like sisters! This is a good way to solve the whole "I want a new doll but don't want to have to buy another collection" monetary issue!!

Curt Ilove your web site. I got my first doll in 1986 and now own all of them. I plan to give them to my children someday. I have 2 nieces who have Samantha and Kit and 1 who has a bitty baby. In response the girl who has a messed up Samantha I would send her to the doll hospital instead of getting a new one. Its cheaped and it would still be your doll. If her body is dirty you should try baking soda and a damp cloth. This is what is in the cleaning kit they sell, just make sure you rinse the baking soda off well. It really works well though. My Samantha is almost 20 years old and was played with very well and she looks just as good as Kit who is only a year old and has never been played with.

Hey Guys! I've been on vacation so I haven't been able to read all the entries in the guest book...but it was a real treat when I came back! Jennifer: Thanks so much! I do love American Girls but I'm sure you love them alot too!! Hannah: What new doll are you talking about in one of your last entries? Marisol? She's going to be on the web in September? Ginny: That's ok! lol I CANT wait to go to AGPNY in November! It's going to be so great! I also just got a new pack of AG trading cards :) hehe. Well since everyone was sharing their history about AG dolls...heres Mine!! :P When I was about 5 our first AG catalog came in the mail and my mom gave it to me to look at. I immediatly fell in love with the dolls and their accessories...Thats when my mom ordered me Samantha and her accessories. I played with her everyday until I convinced my mom to get me Sam's trunk, table and chairs, victorian lemonade set, party treats, tea dress, nightgown, bed, bedding, nighttime necessities, and the nightstand in the following 2 years or so. Next, about 1 year later I got another AGOT doll and named her Chelsea. About 3 years later I got a whole set of stuff from Sam's collection from my dad for my birthday: school supplies, lunch, school dress, middy dress with tam, nature paraphernalia, party dress, travel duster, travel accessories, sam's doll, sam's bear, and her high button shoes. About 2 months later I got Sam's retired bathing costume via ebay for $60$! (but it was worth it) And then finally July 6 2004 my dad ordered me Nellie from all my excitement...and thats about it! lol ok you are probably all sick of reading this entry so...cyA! Elle

I used to have one of the Target 18 inch dolls. This was before I got Kirsten, but she was a big disappointment. Her hair became all frizzy, after about a year, I've had Kirsten for almost a year now and her hair is as good as new. AG's clothes are also better made. I think that's why they're so expensive.

What was your expierience at the AG place? I've been there twice. The second time I went there was just my mom and me, I was 9, in summer of 2002 (I'm now 12). First I went to the AG place, and took Molly to the hair salon, so she got a spot there then I looked in the peek into the past windows. Then I bought Felicity and her acessories, she is one of my favorites! Then I looked at some of the boutiques, they were goregous! Then I had lunch at the cafe and there was this girl and her aunt at our table, she was really nice. She was going to go with her mom but her mom got hurt. Then we looked around some more. Then we went to the Circle Of Friends play, it was great! Such a great day!

Guess what I have! A letter from Valerie Tripp! I wrote to her about a year ago, and I got a reply in about 3 months. Does anyone else have a letter from an AG author? -Enelya PS I heard a rumor that someone auditioned for a part in the Samantha movie, and she didn't get it, but she's going to be called back for a part in the Kit movie! First of all, I want to say that this is a great website with very helpful and useful information! I've actually been keeping track of all of the AGPNY items by making what I affectionately call my "American Girls' Bible." Its one of the Holiday 2000 catalogs in which I have cut out other outfits and accessories from different magazines and taped them in there :) I actually have most of the items (retired and recent) in there! This website is much better for keeping track! Me and my mom have been collecting the American Girls since the late 80's and still love them! Yes, we are adults and we collect dolls! Between us, we have most of the girls: Kaya, Felicity, Josefina, Kirsten, Addy, Samantha, Kit, Molly, Lindsey, Kailey, and "Mini-me," one of the "choose your own dolls" (blonde hair, green eyes). My mom got me Molly when I was a little girl and she's always been my favorite, although I'm actually more like Kirsten (long blonde hair, outdoorsy, from Minnesota). Kit is my mom's favorite...I think she was like her when she was young girl. She also likes the depression glass stuff. Anyways, I think they should develop an Asian American Girl with the 6 stories next instead of adding the girls' friends. Don't get me wrong, I like the friends idea and Nellie is very cute, but I think an Asian girl would be really cool and interesting.

Hey Everyone! I finally convinced my dad to order me Sam's Talent Show Dress...I am SO excited! I absolutely love the new AGOT outfit! It's ADORABLE! Hey all you collecters. I found out something interesting. My cousin (Who's in college now.) used to collect. She gave me all her stuff including a skin care kit. It has the ingredients on it where as the new ones don't. The cleaner is just BAKING SODA. So unless you want the little towels, just clean your dolls with baking soda. Emily P.S. We started with Kailey, and with the help of eBay and American Girl Doll Place in Chicago, we have added 5 more dolls since 12/03. Don't tell my daughter but we will be adding two more for Christmas 2004. As a mom, I'm hooked. I discovered your website about the same time I discovered eBay. I have you set up on Favorites so that I can make an educated decision. Wow... the things I've learned. My daughter loves AG dolls, but secretly, I love the thrill of the hunt! Thank you for all your research and attention to detail. I've noticed that you updated as soon as the new catalog came out. It's a dad sport, too. I read on a website I found that Marisol could be out as soon as January! I am so totally excited! I found some info on a website that plesant co. has abandoned some trademarks, and one was about a girl named Tasha and one named Rebbecka, and there was historical info! Hi! My daughters and I are new in the world of American Girl. I have taken your advice and looked on ebay as a way of trying to educate myself further. I'm a bit confused and wondering if someone could help me... I understand that AG was bought out by Mattel, and that there are different color bodies, white, white with brown specks and flesh color...how does one tell the age of an AG doll by this? I've also seen the copyright "c" above the P in pleasant and to the left side of it, and diagonally from it. Does that make one more valuable than the other? Thanks for all of your kind messages and I hope you all continue to enjoy this web site. To answer some of the questions, speculations and rumors mentioned on this Guest Book page, as far as I know, there is no Kit movie in the works and there are no plans for other friend dolls. The movie this November was about Samantha and so to promote it, a Nellie doll was introduced along with some new Sam outfits. In regards to adding Bitty Baby, Girls of Many Lands, AG Minis, etc. to this site, I have no plans to do so. This site is devoted exclusively to the 18-inch AG dolls and their directly-related accessories, especially the historical dolls. I don't have the time or interest to add all of the extra stuff. I don't know what the AGOT Holiday dress will be this year. As soon as I hear definitive news about any new stuff or new retirements, I add it to the site, so if it's not mentioned on this site, I don't know about it yet. Also, I just added Nellie's pajamas to the Wish List page. I don't know why it was left off. Take care and enjoy the site!

Curt - I have one suggestion for your Molly page. I bought my Molly doll a few years ago when I also purchased a Bennet. My Bennet is made from Rabbit fur, unlike the new Bennet of today. It might be a good idea to find a picture of the old, rabbitfur bennet (which i swear i purchased of www.americangirl.com) and put it under the retired section as Bennet #1. Love mae

Curt, have you ever considered adding a section to your site about the American Girl Living History Programs? AG used to do tours at museums and historical sites for each of the six girls, up until Kit was created (I'm almost sure Josefina had a tour), and I'd love to know more about them.

My cousin has a Josefina doll and her leg constantly comes off. Her doll has been to the American Girl Hospital 5 times. The last time they reatached it with some kind of string that looked like floss. I know my cousin dosen't pull it's leg off because she loves Josefina way to much to do that. Then the American Girl Hospital just gave her a whole new Josefina doll and there hasn't been any problems since. I still think that wierd though. Has that happened to anyone else?

I forgot to add more information about the books. Samantha's is by Sarah Masters Buckley, who wrote the short story Samantha's special talent and several histories mysteries books. Kits is writen by Kathleen Ernst, who wrote a few histories mysteries books as well. Kaya's is writen by Janet Shaw. All the books are illustrated by Jean-Paul Tibbles The books are longer than normal AG books. Sam and Kit's are 192 pages, Kayas is 144. None of the books are written by Valerie Tripp. Hopefully this means she is busy with an Elizabeth book. Even though I am super exited about the posibility of Elizabeth, I feel bad for Kit fans who wanted Ruthie.

There IS a trademark filed for "Elizabeth", BUT no one knows yet if it's Elizabeth COLE, Felicity's best friend. Also, a lot of times AG abandons patents once they file them. So we'll just have to wait and see for sure. :)

OMG! here is my Christmas list lol: New AGOT light blonde hair, blue eyes Christmas outfit coconut pajamas sleepover kit That's all I can think of ! now shoutouts! Elyse: Nellie's hair is really short and there is nothing really you can do with it, ponytail, or side pony. You can do small braids at like the top of her head or something, but not like a full braid in the back. hope this helps! Marjorie- what were you saying about potential dolls? what are those? please fill me in! ONLY 2 MONTHS CLOSER TILL I GO TO AGPNY AND GET MY NEW DOLL! You can find out about never-made dolls at the U.S. Trademark site, www.uspto.gov. You do a serch for the name, or you put in American girl and change the search to owner name and adress. Most names are thoght to have become another doll, like Maria Louisa becomes Josefina, Eileen becomes GOML Kathleen, ect.

Hello, I heard somewhere that some of Felicity's things are coming out. Is that true? Will they come out with another girls bestfriend or did Nellie come out only for the movie? Victoria - I have been to the AG place in NYC like a bazillion times! I simply love it. I have been to the theater and the cafe too. The cafe is beautiful, it's decor is all black white and hot pink! :-) The food is sooooo delicious and they have a great variety of choices. First they bring you out a small cinnamon muffin. If you put your thumb and first finger together and create a circle, you basically know what how bit it is! The buns are warm and sweet and you can eat them in one bite! Next they bring out a tray of vegetables like celeray, carrots, cheeses, grapes, ect. and a special, creamy dip you can dip them in. Next you have you're main course from the menu, and finally they bring out dessert. The dessert includes a little heart shaped cookie (Addy), a little chocolate teacup filled with like a lemon icing (Samantha), and some delicious, DELICIOUS chocolate moose in a green pot that resembles a flowerpot (Molly). Inside the flower pot is a pretty plastic flower that you can keep. I put mine in my josefina's hair :-) You can also keep the napkin rings, whic are like hairties with big pink flowers on them. I went to the theater too! We saw "The American Girl's Review", with a cast of about 8 girls and 4 adults. The girls are part of a club, and they have a new friend who doesn't know much about American Girls. They decided that they would like her to join the club, so they act out scenes and show her how great American Girl truly is! There is a scene from each of the 8 girls story books. There are like 5 rows in the theater, and there's this little black bloz that some muscicians sit in. All the girls have really good voices, especially the girl who plays addy! I hope this helps people get a better picture about what the American Girl Place NYC is like! luv xoxo Marjorie

It would be so awesome if they made an Elizabeth doll and a Felicity movie. I have Felicity. She is my favorite doll in the whole world. It would also be awesome if they brought back all of Felicity's clothes and stuff. My mom asked me what AG doll I liked best, but I didn't know she was going to get me one. I said Felicity, because I liked her books. I didn't know how much of her stuff was retired. I'm glad I found this website. Now they have a storage caddy that you can buy without any clothes or books or stuff. I want one for Christmas. I've been to AGPC. It was the best day of my life. I loved the musical. It's called the Circle of Friends and the music is great. The cafe has really good food. I wish that I would have seen the news segment about American Girl Place. That would have been so cool. Well, I have the most amazing story to tell! It started on Friday, when my mom called the office and said I needed to be picked up early from school. She said I needed to go for a doctor's appointment. Yay. So before lunch I left school and found my mom looking very flustered in her car. "Come on," she said. "We've got a plane to catch." I was so confused as I sat down in the car. She gave me a sandwich and a Krispy Kreme donut to munch on while we drove to the airport. I was still in my school uniform! I noticed that there were three bags thrown across the middle seat --> one big one, my travel bag, and my mom's handbag. I was really weirded out by now. I have 3 brothers, and I thought maybe there was funeral we needed to go to! Anyway, we arrived at the airport and my mom hurried us onto an airplane. I still had no idea where we were going, and we sat in buisness class (my first time!)! It was really cool, but I couldn't help wondering where we were heading to. The piolet announced, "We will reach chicago in approximately 3 hours." And that's when I knew. I practically screamed! My mom was taking me to the AGPC! I just stared at her with my mouth open, and she rolled her eyes. "If you really must know..." she said, pulling out 2 tickets to the AGPC theater, 2 tickets for dinner in the AGPC cafe, and 2 tickets for 2 nights at a hotel! I was speechless! My mom is incredible! Anyway, we got to the hotel and it was pretty late, so we went straight to bed. I remember feeling my heart flutter when I realized my mom had packed my Samantha, her nightgown, her accessories, her tea dress, and her play dress for me already in my backpack. At the hotel we even got a special AGPC package, where Samantha got a bathrobe! :-) The next day the adventure began. We hopped in a taxi, and after touring Chicago and having lunch at a VERY fancy restaurant, we found our way to the AGPC! I was so exciterd I could scarecly breathe, and I clung to my samantha and my Mom's hand as we walked in the door. It was beautiful. The downstairs was filled with beautiful Today dolls, outfits, and accessories. I got both of the Limited Edition christmas outfits! My mom especially admired the new AGT with Blonde hair and blue eyes! (I did too!) Then we went to the next floor, and I was lost in the world of historical dolls. Everything was so beautiful, and seeing the collections in person was so magical! While we were admiring the Josefina display, we heard a lady say to her personal shopper, "I'll take the entire Josefina collection!" The best part happened next. I felt my jaw dropp as my mom said, "Two can play that game!" She let me pick out a doll and she bought me the doll's ENTIRE collection! I chose Kit. I got Kit, her birthday dress, her pajamas, her accessories, and grace the basset hound for now. Mom is having everything else shipped to our home. Sam loved seeing all of the special things that were used from the Samantha movie! I had my eye on Nellie while we were there, and my mom said for christmas maybe. Could this day get any better? Yes! We had a delicious dinner in the Cafe, very sophisticated. Sam enjoyed sitting in her treat seat and sharing most of my delicious dinner. Then came the show. Oh, what a fabulous show! The circle of friends was truly the most mesmorizing thing I have ever seen! It was so colorful, and each Historical American Girl was brought to life right before our eyes! Anyway, I'm back at the hotel now, practically falling asleep with such a busy day. Sam and Kit have become inseperable, and they are playing in their pajamas now. Tomorrow me and Mom leave early to go back home. This has been the best day of my life! Love Cee Cee
